Project Program: Apartment and Retro-fit Historical Church
Site Location: 130 Summit Ave, Jersey City, NJ
This year I had the opportunity to work alongside a concrete manufacturing company based in Pennsylvania as well as a property development group and real world site adjacent to a historic church in Jersey City.
Due to the professional feedbacks received, the goal of this project was to design a solution that complied with real world construction economics as well as delivered a profitable residential layout on a site shared with a historical church had zoning regulations which applied heavy design restriction to alterations.
Our solutions were created using precast concrete panels that were designed to be mass produced reducing construction cost and time. The residential layout was designed based on a "Le Corbusier" Case study allowing for more units per sqft.
Our design was inspired by the neo-gothic aspects of the church, but were altered to be more modern so as to not distract from the historical site based on developer feedback.
