My architectural project aimed to integrate a classical aesthetic into the fabric of Venice. With a prioritization towards functionality in regards to three distinct user groups, the design meticulously allocates space to harmonize the experience for pedestrians and tourists exploring the museum, Venetian residents drawn to the mercantile and dining options, as well as the dedicated workers contributing to the cultural and public amenities on-site. My goal was to craft an addition to Venice that not only pays homage to its history through classical design elements but also serves as an equitable and inclusive space for the diverse needs of the community.
The exterior elevation is inspired by the rich materiality of the Venetian urban landscape. The carefully selected reutilized stones not only embody the rich historical fabric of Venice but also contribute lo the sustainable ethos of the design, forging a connection between the structure and the cultural and natural heritage of the city.
