This semester we were given the task of designing a new library and student center on our very own campus.
My project involved designing modular systems in various programmatic forms. These systems were then intentionally destroyed by colliding the pre-designed modular elements. The resulting spaces from these collisions integrated into hybrid spaces with new, combined programs and forms.
This was led by my experience at NJIT during and after Covid. I felt that many individuals had retreated into a shell due to the pandemic. Because of this I wanted to push for a space that promoted socialization between majors on campus.
To promote this I designed a mixed material tectonic system that was playful and promoted occupants to look up, leading to connection with others and the spaces around them.
